What is a virtual token? In the industry, the term virtual token is used for any number of authentication technologies. In the case of Legitimi, our virtual token is a hash of unique system characteristics paired with the standard username and password. The generation and subsequent usage of this hash is what makes Legitimi unique.

Security tokens are used to prove one's identity electronically as a form of authentication (as in the case of a customer trying to access his or her bank account). Physical tokens are expensive, complex, difficult to implement and manage. Since Legitimi is a software only solution, engineered for ease of use, installation and support, those issues are avoided while costs are reduced and security is actually increased. Why? The burden of loss and downtime is equally felt by the end user as opposed to the ‘I’ll just get another one.’ in the case of physical tokens.
